There are four great markets to chose from in the City of Port Phillip:
St Kilda Esplanade Market located between Fitzroy Street & Acland Street beside Luna Park in St Kilda is considered one of Melbourne’s most popular art and craft markets. Every Sunday for over 40 years, this famous sea-side makers’ market has delighted crowds with a wide assortment of unique products and curios for sale. Shop stall after stall of handcrafted jewellery, gifts, souvenirs, wearable and decorative arts directly from the exhibiting artisans who crafted them - all while taking in the picturesque views of the St Kilda shoreline. Bliss! Open every Sunday of the year from 10am - 5pm - in Winter until 4pm.
The famous South Melbourne Market is one of Melbourne’s best fresh produce markets and one of the oldest continuing market operating in Melbourne. It opened in 1867 and continues to bustle every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 - 4pm with gourmet delights, a wide array of seasonal fresh produce, gorgeous fresh flowers, homeware stalls and emerging designer wares.
For a slice of rural life in the inner city, visit our two farmers markets, here you’ll find organic and low impact vegetables, herbs, juices, cheeses, honey, wine, smoked meat and fish, free range eggs and more - all sold directly by the grower/producer.
Gasworks Farmers Market in Albert Park is on the third Saturday of every month. Set in the beautiful Gasworks Art Park there are around 50 stallholders from all over Victoria bringing you a slice of rural life and creating a unique and very personal shopping expedition. Stallholders have a simple philosophy; that their goods are grown, made and known by those who sell them and that the quality of produce is of the utmost importance.
Veg Out Farmers Market in St Kilda is on the first Saturday of each month between 8.30am and 1pm at Peanut Reserve. It’s certainly not your average shopping expedition. Farmers and producers roll up from across the state. There’s an abundance of fresh, seasonal and organic fruit and vegies, and also free range chooks, eggs and other meats, organic and sourdough breads, berries, juices, cheeses, sauces, chutneys, jams, pates, wine and honey and much more.
